The winter transfer market proves to be a period of feverish speculation and possible major deals. Numerous high-profile players find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. We examine a selection of the key figures that are poised to be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the AFCON, this has kept the forward in contention, it appears a major move is imminent. The 25-year-old possesses a deal featuring a substantial buy-out clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Recent developments suggest Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to other targets, leaving clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The England centre-back has excel for Crystal Palace this season a summer move to Anfield collapsing. With his contract due to run out in the close season, January is the London club's last chance to obtain a fee for their skipper. Numerous elite sides, such as City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit is considered difficult, particularly given the manager's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

This Wales forward has had starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the side's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has begun only a small number of Premier League games. Reports suggest the North London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the correct price, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

Tottenham rate the Welsh international at around £40m.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal midfielder might be set for a comeback to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Now only 28, and with his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he is a potential opportunity. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça following new coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and undergone an operation, a January exit looks increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The proven English centre-forward has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could boost his fading hopes of making the national World Cup. But, arranging a transfer presents major challenges. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his reported huge weekly wages make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been linked as interested parties.

Although starring and winning the best player award at the Under-21 European Championship last summer, this talented player has found it tough for game time on loan at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the temporary transfer will not be made permanent. Because of FIFA regulations about representing multiple teams in a season, a return to his parent club before next summer seems to be the sole available solution.

K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkey attacker has been in fine form for Juventus this season. As his existing deal running down, a host of English clubs – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but are in a race to retain one of the continent's brightest prospects.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has broken into the AZ first team. This teenager is heavily expected to complete a major move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
